The Best Tints, BB + CC Creams, and Tinted Moisturizers for Mature Skin | 2020

I wanted to do a round up of all my favorite tinted moisturizers, BB Creams, CC Creams, and Hydrating Tints for 2020!  I have picks at every price point, from drugstore to high-end, so there is something for everyone.

I thought it would helpful to show them being applied as well as the finished look.

All of these products offer sheer coverage that is great for evening out surface tones on the skin for a smooth looking complexion.  These sheer coverage products are a great option for daily wear if you don’t want to wear a foundation.

Here are all my favorite sheer coverage products, in order from least amount of coverage to the highest amount of coverage, so you can find the one that best suits what you are looking for!

Texture | I love this new tinted moisturizer from Tarte!  It felt nice on my skin, wasn’t heavy or tacky, and really kept my skin hydrated. 

Coverage | It’s very sheer, so this is perfect for someone who wants the most minimal amount of coverage.  It would also make a great base for foundation, if you want a more sheer and glowing foundation look.

Scent | no heavy fragrance/minimal natural product scent.

2 | BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30

Texture |  This is a great, lightweight product!  I love how the Complexion Rescue feels. It’s so light and absorbs quickly. 

This is a product that I have purchased twice and will purchase a 3rd time.  This is a great product for someone who doesn’t want to feel like there is anything on their skin.

Coverage |  This is a sheer product, but does have some coverage.  I love how even this makes my skin look.  I also love that my shade, Vanilla 02, has a peach undertone!

Scent | no heavy fragrance/minimal natural product scent (replace product every 12 months, the scent will change once the product expires).

3 | Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40

Texture |  The Ilia is the most dewy + radiant out of all the sheer coverage products.   This has a slightly more tacky finish, but it does eventually absorb into my skin. 

All products with the ingredient “squalene” tend to sit on top of my skin for 5-10 minutes before absorbing.

I prefer to wear this with the Tatcha Liquid Silk primer  to get a slightly more matte finish.  You can wear this on your own, this is just my personal preference. 

Coverage |  This is a your-skin-but-more-even tint.  People looking for a glowing, sheer product will love this tint level.

4 | Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint

Texture |  This has a very whipped texture, almost like a mousse!  It feels very lightweight. 

This product is slightly more dry vs the moisturizers and liquid tints.  This is a great product for someone who doesn’t want to feel like there is anything on their skin.

This would be a great product for someone with oily skin, but I still think it looks nice and wears well on my drier skin. I just blend it out quickly so that it doesn’t dry down too much before it’s blended.

Coverage |  Sheer, but with some coverage.  Builds and layers nicely.

5 | Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30

Texture |  Very lightweight and hydrating!  I really enjoyed this moisturizer and would purchase a full size of this.  It’s slightly heavier than the BareMinerals, but it’s a very slight difference.

I was lucky to have this sample come in an order and it happened to be the perfect shade for me, it even has a peach undertone!

Coverage |  Beautiful coverage!  This particular moisturizer really made my skin look flawless and radiant, without any shimmer or glimmering bits.  My face looked fresh and even.

Scent | light, not heavily scented.

6 | Covergirl Clean Matte BB Cream

Texture |  This has a more dry texture than the other tinted moisturizers I tested.  Oily skin types will love this product! 

It does have a slight weight to it, but nothing super heavy or uncomfortable.

Coverage |  Really nice coverage!  I wish I had purchased the correct shade, because I do think this has great, smooth, sheer coverage.  It just looks a little pink on me in person.

Scent |  Very heavily fragranced.

7 | It Cosmetics CC+ Cream SPF 50

Texture |  The IT Cosmetics CC Cream is another favorite of mine.  It feels great on the skin: light, hydrating, and never irritates my (sensitive) skin. 

It’s really a unicorn product and easy to see why it’s been a best-seller since it launched.

Coverage | This CC cream has the most coverage out of all these sheer base products.  It has more coverage than a tinted moisturizer or BB Cream, but less than a foundation.  

I have a lot of surface tone redness in my skin.  I love that 1 pump of the It CC cream evens everything out.  I find that I use less of this product vs other tinted moisturizers because I get the coverage I need from that single pump.

I do wear a setting spray with this CC cream for all-day wear.

Scent | lightly fragranced, pleasant scent.

Lightweight Concealer |

In this video, I mostly wore Armani Luminous Silk Concealer. 

I find that a heavier concealer can look a little odd with a sheer coverage base product, so I tend to pick more radiant finish concealer.
