The 6 Best Foundations for Dry + Mature Skin | Updated for 2025 with Swatches

For me, beautiful makeup starts with a great base, which is why foundation is one of my favorite makeup products to use.   In this post I’m sharing the best foundations for mature and dry skin. As I’ve gotten older, I have noticed that I really only like the look of certain foundations on my skin. 

These are the top foundations that I find myself reaching for and repurchasing. This is the biggest compliment you can give to a product, in my opinion! With so many options, buying a product on repeat speaks volumes.

BEST FOUNDATIONS FOR DRY + MATURE SKIN

Here are the foundations that I reach for the most, in order from lowest price to highest.

I also share my personal shades, in case you are close to my skin tone and undertone. I am fair-to-light skin tone, with a peach undertone.

Foundation Texture + Finish | The L’Oreal foundation has a gorgeous satin finish. It’s lightweight and does apply and blend easily. This foundation does need to be powdered in my t-zone by mid-day, so I prefer to set it with a longwear setting spray.

Standout Features | This is the most natural looking foundation I’ve tried at this price point.

Foundation Texture + Finish | Lightweight, satin finish. Builds easily to medium-to-full coverage. Photographs really well.

Standout Features | This Nars foundation looks really lovely in person and in photos. It takes a lot for me to reach for a foundation regularly and this foundation just checks all the boxes. It’s also nice on my sensitive skin, I can wear this daily and it’s gentle on my skin.

It does take me about four pumps for full coverage, because it’s a lightweight foundation and on the thinner side. Sometimes, I’ll mix one pump of this Light Reflecting foundation with one pump of the Nars Longwear to get the best of both worlds and make this foundation bottle last a bit longer.

Foundation Texture + Finish | Leans more matte, but still looks like natural, satin skin when prepped with a hydrating base. This is a very concentrated formula, start out with one pump and blend before adding any more layers!

Standout Features | This is my favorite full coverage foundation for mature skin. It looks flawless in persona and in photos and really lasts through a full day, even in warmer weather.

This foundation photographs beautifully.

Once you try Luminous silk, it’s game over. This is one of my favorite foundations of all time. Out of all my foundations, this is the one I picked to wear on our wedding day!

Standout Features | It’s rare that a foundation can truly look like a second skin, but Surratt beauty has done it. Their formula is lightweight and feels great on.

Foundation Texture + Finish | Seamless second skin, with a true satin finish. Wears well throughout the day for me.

Foundation Texture + Finish | Dewy, glowing second skin. Liquid I.V. for your face.

Standout Features | There truly is no other foundation like the Moisture Foundation.  It continuously plumps up my skin and looks the same after 12 hours of wear as when I first applied the foundation.

It’s a dry and mature skin miracle foundation.

I also wore this in Miami, FL to a friend’s wedding during an August heat wave (or as the local’s call it: weather) and was nervous that my skin would be too sweaty for this foundation to work, but somehow it worked just as well as when I wear it in freezing cold temps with dry skin.

I’ve also used this foundation on a model who was on accutane for severe acne. This medication really dries the skin out.  I had tried a few different foundations and nothing would stick on her face. We had about thirty minutes until she had to be on the runway. In a panic, I grabbed the Moisture foundation, which up until that point I’d be saving exclusively for maturing skin. Miraculously, it became one with her skin, for a flawless finish.

This is a liquid-cream hybrid, so I do shake and lightly massage the tube (before I take the cap off) to mix up the product inside. 

This is a concentrated formula, so start with a very small amount and build as needed.
