Best Denim + Tailored Shorts for Women | size 14 Curvy Try-On

Why is it so hard to find great fitting shorts for women!? I feel like I have searched online and in real life for years and only really found a handful of incredible fitting shorts. These are my favorite summer denim shorts and tailored shorts, all tried on, so you can see how they fit!

I prefer a slightly longer 4″ inseam and will wear either 100% cotton or a cotton/spandex mix. I like shorts with a natural high rise and straight cut from waist to thigh opening. Shorts that flare out at the legs don’t flatter me, so I go for that straighter cut.

Here are all my favorite denim cut-off shorts for casual wear and my favorite tailored shorts that can be dressed up or down!

BEST DENIM SHORTS FOR WOMEN

1 | H + M Vintage High Rise Jean Shorts

These shorts are SUCH a find! The fit is fantastic. The H&M “Vintage High-Rise” jeans are one of my all-time favorite jeans, so I was excited to see they made a version in shorts.

The inseam is a decent length, the denim is lightweight, which I love for summer, but looks substantial.

These are just incredible fitting shorts. The waist band sits perfectly without digging in, the straight cut is flattering at the front and back, and I love the compression from the button fly.

The black + white washes do seems to run more snug than the denim washes.

I kept the size 16+ in the black and the white for a looser wear and a black pair in size 14 for when I want more fitted shorts.

The secret is out on these $15 shorts, so they sell out quickly on H&M, but also restock frequently. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t see your size in stock, just check back later!

BEST TAILORED SHORTS

These are incredibly flattering shorts. I love the belt detail, the slightly longer inseam, and the thicker (ie: not see through) fabric on these off-white shorts. The original $350 price tag was a bit too steep for me, but the sale price is very fair for the high-quality and fit of these shorts!

The slanted pockets and flattering cut of these higher rise linen blend shorts is so perfect. These are very slimming and make getting dressed so easy. These can be dressed up or down and have come with me on every trip this summer.
