Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Liner Shades, Swatches, + Review

Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat lip liner is one of the few pencils that I have repurchased several times, in a variety of shades. It’s an amazing long wear formula that truly lasts and still feels comfortable on the lips.

For this post, I’ll go into detail about why this lip liner formula stands out, why it’s worth the price tag (in my opinion) and finish up with swatches of the five shades I own and love.

Formula

I adore this longwear formula from Charlotte Tilbury.  It’s comfortable on my lips and gentle on the skin around my lips.  Great for people with sensitive skin!  

It lasts hours and hours on me.  When I worked as a makeup artist, it was my go-to lip pencil because it lasted all day, with touch ups only needed after eating (the oils in food break down lip liners and lipsticks).

Shades 

Iconic Nude was my go-to shade for years, recently Pillow Talk – 2 Medium has become my favorite. It’s just slightly darker than my natural lip shade and works well with both my natural and rose lipstick shades.  The original PillowTalk shade was a but too pink for my skin’s under tones.  

The updated neutral shade range is fantastic!

Hollywood Honey is a surprise favorite shade for me, it looks so natural and pairs perfectly with all my brick red lipsticks (like MAC Chili).

Packaging

The cap stays on, my friends! To anyone who has ever had a purse ruined by a lip liner cap that would not stay on, you’ll be happy to hear that this pencil stays closed. 

The pencil must be sharpened, which is actually my preference.  Yes, it takes an extra second vs twist up pencils, but I always get a more precise line, which is important for lips, especially red shades and darker tones. I prefer the sharpener that comes with the Pat McGrath eyeliners, it’s the best I have found, I wish it was sold on it’s own.

Wrap up

Overall, this is one of my all-time favorite lip liners.  It has also surprised me by being an overall good value.  Because it lasts so long, I only have to apply once and touch up after meals only.  There is no product wasted with more frequent touch ups and each pencil ends up lasting me a long time. 

I have repurchased the Iconic Nude shade 4-5 times now over the years and will absolutely repurchase the Pillow Talk – 2 Medium shade when it needs to be replaced.
