If you’ve been searching for the perfect biker style shape wear shorts to wear under your dresses, look no further than Honeylove’s Mid Waist shorts! I’ve been wearing the original Mid Waist shorts for the past year and the new MeshSculpt Mid Waist shorts since their release. In this post, I will review them both and give sizing advice.
In the past, I’ve tried so many other brands of biker shorts and 1: my clothing stuck to the fabric 2: the waist rolled down and 3: they offered no stomach smoothing.
I switched over to the Honeylove shorts and 1: my clothing glided over their signature fabric 2: the waist and legs stayed in place without rolling up or down all day and 3: my stomach was perfectly smooth.
Honeylove = Game changer.
Let’s get into what makes the Mid Waist shorts my go-to shapewear.

Mid Waist Original
The Mid Waist is aptly named. The shorts hit right at the natural waist, with a bonded waist, so you get a nice smooth stomach.
The downside to this is that you do get a little line where the shorts end, vs the back smoothing of the higher OG high waist short. I also wish the inseam for an inch shorter, so that I can wear them with my shorter skirt and dresses.
These offer the same stomach smoothing compression of the OG short, with a light backside lift from the paneling. These do not have any side boning.
These shorts really stay in place once they are on, thanks to Honeylove’s expert tailoring and compression.

MeshSculpt Mid Waist
The MeshSculpt Mid Waist shorts are also accurately named! These are made from the same compression mesh that is used in small sections on the original shorts. The inside has a light silicone coating that holds them in place on your body.
I was a little nervous at first with the lining, because I have had bad reactions in the past, but I thankfully have had no issues at all with Honeylove’s high quality silicone. Even in the hottest days of Atlanta’s summer, I have reached for these shorts and worn them comfortably all day long.
The MeshSculpt does have a “X” compression, but it is not double layered like the Original shorts. It still does provide nice compression.
In addition, the inseam on the MeshSculpt are an inch shorter than the original. I really like this for wearing shorter skirts. The waist band is also thinner vs. the original shorts, so it doesn’t dig in as much at the waist band.
The only downside to the MeshSculpt shorts for me, is the ruching at the backside. I don’t love this feature, comfort-wise it adds a little too much bulk for me personally, however I think it might have to be how to shorts are made to get a nice backside lift with this fabric.
These shorts do not have any boning.

I wear a women’s size 8 pant and my perfect size in the both styles of the Mid Waist shorts are a Medium.
I recommend to order the same size you’d order for true-to-size fitting pants. If you are in between sizes, size up for all day wear and comfort. You’ll still get great compression and smoothing.
The MeshSculpt does seem to run just a *smidge* tighter than the original shorts. However, I still feel like the Mediums are the best size for me.
Mid Waist Original
These shorts are so easy to pop on and off. I find myself reaching for them every time I wear a dress or skirt, because they go on and off just like any pair of undergarments or biker shorts. No “shapewear shimmy” needed, just pull up and down easily.
This also makes them really great for easily using the restroom. They don’t have the gusset opening, but because they are easy on/off, it’s never an issue.
The original Mid Waist shorts have the added signature Honeylove criss-cross stomach smoothing that elevates them from anything else available on the market. Honeylove truly has the best compression out of any shape wear brand I have tried.
All fabrics glide over Honeylove’s signature silky material. This gives all your outfits and nice flow while walking and it photos.

MeshSculpt Mid Waist
Honeylove has provided a really nice, lightweight option for the hottest months of summer with their new MeshSculpt line. If the thought of adding another layer of fabric under your dress makes you want to skip the event, then you might want to try their MeshSculpt line!
It’s so lightweight, fits well, and provides the figure smoothing compression that Honeylove is known for. While it has *slightly* lighter compression vs their original line, it still provides gorgeous smoothing and clean lines under clothing.
The new MeshSculpt line is a terrific option for hot weather or someone who just prefers a lightweight option!
