Beauty Review | Sephora Hot Hues Neon Lip Balm

I am in love with Sephora’s new (and now sold out) lip balm for summer.  It’s the Hot Hues Neon lip balm and it is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.  The tube of balm is see through and looks like a container of jelly or jell-o.

It’s insane.  I’m embarrassed to admit that in the first two weeks I had them, I pulled it out of my purse to show people at every opportunity.  Like, nobody asked but they were going to see it anyway.  I had to show them.  It made me so happy every time I pulled it out.  And while nobody necessarily *asked* to see it, (ME:  Want to see my new lip gloss?  EVERYBODY: Umm… ok?)  every.single.person gasped when I rolled up that jelly looking tube.  Even guys gave it a second glance, which is saying something.  1: It looks cool.

2:  The colors are awesome in the tube and on your lips.  The purple and coral look scary, but actually became my favorites.  I thought I’d like the hot pink one the most, but it actually shows up the least.  It’s great though if you don’t feel like wearing a ton of makeup because it does give your lips a nice flush, and plumps them up a bit from your natural lips.  The raspberry is a really beautiful deeper pink.  It comes out looking like what I thought the hot pink would look like.  Every single shade basically comes out a shade of pink, so even if you got the coral or purple, it turns into a lighter or darker shade of pink on your lips.  Because they are essentially a stain, not a lipstick, they all look pretty natural on.

3.  The texture is great, but a little drying.  The balm slides on very smoothly, that’s a plus.  It is supposed to be “moisturizing” as it is marketed as a “balm.”  However, I did find it to be slightly drying on my lips.  To combat this, I would put the Neon balm on my lips first, to really let the pigment sink in.  I’d wait about a minute to let the color set and then cover my lips with vaseline.  The new vaseline with coco butter smells amazing.

In conclusion:  I love this lip balm.  The neon colors are amazing, and somehow show up as subtle on your lips.  The tube is amazing to roll up, if you are a product junkie (weirdo) like me, it’ll make you happy every time.

XO,
