My Favorite Skincare Products | The List

Hello, again.

A few weeks ago I put up {this} skincare tips post, intending to put up a favorite products list a few days later, then life went on fast forward.  Does anyone else feel like December/January were and are the fastest months in the history of life?

So without further ado or rambling, these are some new products I love and some products that have stood the test of time for me.  To keep this faster and easier to read, I’m not listing why I love each product, so if there is anything specific you want to know, please feel free to ask in the comments below!

You can click right on the brand names below to save search time and get taken right to the product page to shop.

My skin type is: dry and somewhat sensitive.

My go-to skincare routine |

Morning:

1 | ZIIP “face lift” session

2 | cleanse with DHC oil or cream cleanser

3 | tone

4 | serum

5 | face moisturizer with SPF

6 | La Roche Posay SPF on my neck, chest, and hands.

Evening:

1 | DHC oil

2 | then if needed cream cleanser also, rinse that off

3 | konjac sponge

4 | toner

5 | serum

6 | oil or night cream on my face, neck, chest, and hands

Once or twice the day, if my skin feels dry, I’ll spray it with facial spray.  Especially if I’m wearing makeup and starting to look tired, a few sprays of this insanely amazing smelling spray and I look refreshed and my makeup looks better and isn’t settling into fine lines.

Once a week, I’ll do a mask for moisture.

Occasionally, if my skin is feeling really gunky and clogged from weeks of heavy makeup or sweat, I’ll use a Pixi Glow Tonic to go pad all over my face after cleansing at night.  Just one night usually does the trick for me, the glycolic acid really clears up my skin.

Also occasionally, I’ll use the Dr. Brandt microdermabrasion on my face, neck, chest, and the backs of my hands.

Samples |

If you want to try any of the products before you commit, Sephora stores will make you a sample to make sure you like it and don’t have an allergic reaction to it.  I highly recommend doing this, especially for masks and moisturizers, where I tend to have the biggest reaction.  Also, DHC (800.342.2273) will send you 4 samples of anything you’d like to try if you call them.  It’s addicting and you will want to purchase eeeevrything.  But it is really a great way to make sure you are getting the right products for your skin type and you like the texture, smell, results, etc.

ALL STAR Products |

I’ll try anything and everything, but keep coming back to these products because they work.  I see both an immediate and now long term benefits in my skin as I’ve been using these now for years.

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil – gets every last bit of makeup off your face, while keeping it hydrated.  Completely cleans out your pores.  A must for anyone with acne or who wears makeup.

DHC Extra Concentrate – I swear that this serum is the reason I haven’t gotten any botox yet.  Use it in the morning and at night and watch your skin transform in a week.

DHC Olive Virgin Oil – gives my skin this other worldly glow.  When I wear it over the Extra Concentrate, I wake up with a firm and glowing complexion.

La Roche-Posay Suncreen – the best of the best.  Not sticky, absorbs immediately, feels like nothing at all.  NO sunburns yet while using this stuff and no new sun damage on my chest and neck!

Here is a pic of me on the left from January 10th, 2004 (thank you iPhoto for keeping better time than me) and on the right is from January 14th, 2015.  These products just work, in my opinion.  I don’t think I look exactly the same, obviously, but for 11 years it’s pretty decent!

Why is other people's stuff so fascinating?
Why is other people’s stuff so fascinating?

WOAH.  We are done.  This was a lot of things and products and steps.  But I hope it helped if you are looking for a complete overhaul of your skincare routine, just need to change up one or two products, or just love seeing what other people use.  I’m obsessed with seeing other people’s products.  Most people ask for a home tour when they go over to a friend’s place, and I always say “can I please see your makeup and skin products?”  I’m a straight up weirdo.

  1. Hi Molly,

Love this post! I’ve got a question for you about products like the DHC Concentrate. I’m 24 and a little wary of trying products that are specified as anti-aging or wrinkle prevention since it’s so early. Would you recommend that these would be good for someone in their early-mid twenties or should we wait and stick to other products?

    Thanks!
