Meet The Bachelor’s Jade Roper & Naturally Jade Lip Gloss

by Molly Gardner

Why did I feel like Patti Stanger from Bravo’s “Millionaire Matchmaker” when I wrote that title?  You know when she comes out at the cocktail party and yells “Ladies, Meet My Millionaires!”

But seriously, Ladies, meet Jade Roper!  I met this lovely lady through friends at a charity event a couple of years ago.  She was helping out with the tickets and was new in town.  It is safe to say that Jade quickly found her stride and is kicking booty.  Jade just launched an organic makeup line called Naturally Jade and is on this season of The Bachelor.  So far in 2015, I have reached my goal of doing my dishes a least twice a week.

I wanted to do a review and swatches of the Naturally Jade lip glosses, Jade’s first product in the line.  We shot a video as well so you could hear her thoughts on the makeup line, including why she started it and her goals behind it.  Seriously, it blew me away, so definitely watch it.  Jade is very sweet and quiet, so when I finally stop talking about myself and ask her questions about herself, I learned so much.  It’s so great asking people things about themselves, then listening when they respond, I highly recommend it.  I’ll let you know if I ever do it again and how that goes.

In all seriousness, we had such a fun day talking life and business and all things Bachelor and I just loved doing her makeup – such a beauty!  I thought it would be super fun to do her makeup using all organic makeup because I get a ton of emails and requests for good organic/natural/vegan products.  I will do a complete list of what I used on her in another post, because if I do it all here this post will be very, very, very long.

Pigment + Shades:

The lip gloss come in three shades so far (Jade is working on more as we speak – nudes and mattes):  Cherry Red, Pink Wisteria, and Sun Rise.  Cherry Red is a pretty red with hints of a deeper burgundy.  Pink Wisteria is a light raspberry shade and Sun Rise is a bright pink.  All have a pearlized finish.  To be honest, I’d always gone for a satin or mate finish before and now realize I’ve been missing out.   The pearlized finish makes your lips look so plump and naturally full.

The pigment is rad.  It’s more of a medium to full coverage lip product that leaves behind a light stain.  It’s great because you don’t have to keep reapplying to keep the color up.  I thought I’d have to layer it to get more color, but two swipes of this gloss and my lips are totally covered.

This is some seriously silky gloss!  There is oil in the gloss, so it glides on easily.  Normally, I’d be worried about gloss slipping everywhere, but this stays on.  I wear it with a lightly applied lip liner, as I do with all glosses, so that it stays within my lips.  But it feels great on, not sticky at all.  After it wears off, my lips are really hydrated, which is my favorite part.  The first day, I reached for a balm about an hour after applying, out of instinct.  (Oh, did you think I was normal?  No, I’m not.  I keep several lip balms in my pockets and reapply throughout the day.)  So, I reached for my lip balm out of instinct and then pressed my lips together and realized they were even more hydrated than before I’d applied the gloss.

Going to post of a pic of this, because I’m too lazy to write them out, haha.  But I assure you, they are organic and all natural.  No chemicals.  Good stuff.

These were created to be safe enough to be worn for women undergoing cancer treatments.  Watch the video to hear Jade’s thoughts on coming up with this line.

These come in a plastic tube with foam tip applicator.  They apply super easily.  I was looking at another all natural lip gloss last month, but you had to apply it with a dropper.  I mean, I’ll go pretty far for makeup, but that seemed extreme.  Love these and the size is perfect to go in a purse or a smaller pocket.

A dollar from the sale of every lip gloss goes to charities that help financially support women going through cancer treatments.  As a person who is starting my own business soon (more on that later!) I know that giving a donation from each sale while you are still getting things going yourself is a big deal.  This is really amazing.

Obsessed.  My lips were so hydrated and looked amazing.  Favorite everyday shade is probably Pink Wisteria.  It’s a gorgeous raspberry – rose shade that makes my lips look really full.  I’m loving these gorgeous lip stains/glosses and looking forward to more Naturally Jade products!

The Look + Swatches:

Jade and I both thought it would be awesome to show how natural and organic makeup can give you the same dramatic look as traditional makeup.  I’m not sure why, but when I think of organic makeup, I always think light and natural.  Jade said the same exact thing.  I will do a whole separate post with the breakdown of her look, but here are the lip glosses on her!
