Friendship Friday | Kristy

Oh, how I love these Friendship Friday posts!  I love putting them together and more than anything, I love doing them.

One of my favorite aspects of makeup is getting to spend time with people.  You can put on music and talk and the conversation always seems to flow naturally.  This is my first every Friendship Friday post with someone I had just met…kind of…

Kristy always left the nicest comments on my IG and YouTube.  I could just tell she was a genuine and nice person.  She and her husband have a amazing Youtube channel called “Long Long Honeymoon,” you can check it out and subscribe {here.}

I had put up a post that I felt a bit vulnerable doing (I was in a bathing suit and those posts make me SO nervous) and asked about favorite vacation spots.  Kristy said she was actually in Los Angeles for the weekend, where I live, and wanted some fun suggestions for new places to check out.

We started emailing and I asked if she’d want to do a Friendship Friday “make over”.  She did and the timing worked out!

I met her outside my apartment and just sort of instantly liked her.  We started gabbing and didn’t stop for the next two hours, ha!

One of the first things I noticed about Kristy as soon as she got out of her car was her gorgeous sparkly eyes.  I knew I wanted to make them pop.  She has the sweetest, most genuine personality and her sparkly eyes just go along with her whole vibe.

We got inside and poured ourselves some coffee and got to glamming!

Makeup Details

Skin.  I moisturized Kristy’s skin with Embryolisse, then primed it with a few dots of Laura Mercier Hydrating primer.   I then “finish” the skin by dabbing all over with a damp beauty blender, so the skin isn’t heavy with products.

Foundation: It Cosmetics CC Cream I love this full coverage cc cream, hydrating but with great coverage!  A little goes a long way, you might not even need a full pump to cover your whole face.

Undereye corrector: Becca Cosmetics Brightens right under the eyes and counteracts any darkness under eyes, another product where a little goes a long way.

Concealer: Amazing Cosmetics A pin drop size of this is all you need for undereye coverage.  I went under Kristy’s eyes and midway down the sides of her nose, then blended outward in a triangle shape.

Cheeks: Kjaer Weis blush in Suntouched

Highlighter: Becca Liquid in Opal

Contour: Maskcara cream contour in Walnut

Brows: was Fiona Stiles, but no longer available.  Try Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow in Taupe, applies sparingly.  I like to put a little on the back of my hand and dip my brush into that first, to get only the smallest amount on my brush, for a really natural look.

Eyes: Copper is a discontinued copper shade from Lorac.  Similar is: Makeup Geek in Goddess or Charlotte Tilbury cream eyeshadow in Bette.

I swept a neutral light brown shade from the Viseart matte palette (turns out Kristy uses and loves Viseart palettes also!) into her crease, into a gentle v shape at the outer edges of her eyes, and lightly at the outer edge of her undereye.  The Wayne Goss eyeshaodw brush #03 will change your life.  It applies shadow perfectly at the crease and the pointed tip pulls it out into this gentle v-shape flawlessly.

Then I tapped the copper shade into the center of her eye and swept it into the outer and inner corners lightly.  I wanted them to pop, but not have so much shimmer that it looked overwhelming.

I lined her eyes with L’oreal gel liner in Espresso on the top as tight as I could to her lash line.

Lashes were girlgetglamorousHAIR in Head Honcho, trimmed at the outer edge to give them a more wispy effect.

Lips were lined in Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lip liner (the best!) and my favorite combo of Maybelline Warm Me Up and L’Oreal J-Lo’s Nude lipsticks.  Line lips, then swipe the Maybelline first, then the lighter L’oreal shade over it.

Hair

I prepped Kristy’s hair with a heat protect spray, then did loose curls with a 1.25″ ghd curling iron, stopping about an inch to a half inch above the ends to give a more “undone” finish to the curls. Once the curls had cooled down, I brushed through them with my hands, to loosen them into more of a wave, then added a bit of texture powder at the roots.

I added a drop of lightweight oil at the very ends only, then smoothed what little was left on my palms over the rest of Kristy’s hair, to give it a lovely sheen without adding too much weight.

And that was that!  It was one of those, sad-this-is-over moments!  I walked Kristy out and we talked a little bit longer before she took off.  It was such a fun day!  I hope you all love the pics!!

    • Whoops, I forgot to include that info in the post, thanks for asking! I added the details and links above 🙂 It’s my favorite lip-combo!

    • Thank you! Agreed, she is already so pretty and I tried to go so light with application to just enhance. Her eyes are SO blue!!
