A Professional Makeup Artist's Eyeshadow Tutorial

As a former professional makeup artist, this is my step-by-step guide for beginners to get perfect eyeshadow every time.

I share every tip and trick in this technique that I used on thousands of clients. Hopefully, this will make doing your own eyeshadow much easier!

Feel free to use it as a loose guide and tweak as needed for your eye shape. Knowing exactly where to place each shade has made eyeshadow so much easier for me.

STEP 1

Eye Cream The right eye cream helps keep eyelids looking smooth and prevents crepey looking skin over the lids.

STEP 2

Primer Much like eye cream, primer can seem unnecessary, but the right one will help eyeshadows apply more vibrantly.

STEP 3

Transition Shade Apply with a windshield wiper motion and then when all the shadow is applied, start to do swirling motions to really diffuse the shadow for a perfect blend.

STEP 4

Outer corner Gently draw the brush in, towards your lid and down towards your lash line. This helps create the perfect eyeshadow base shape.

STEP 5

Under Eye Bringing the same shadow shade from your crease under your eye can give you a soft smoldering look and/or bigger looking eyes.
