Terax Crema + Keratin Conditioner Review | Holy Guacamole

Every once in a while, a product comes along that really makes me take notice.  The first time I dried my hair after using this Terax Crema + Keratin Conditioner I thought “Holy Guacamole, my hair feels so soft.”

Having been burned by hair products before that initially made my hair feel soft, but eventually made it really dry (like, how?  HOW.)  I didn’t get my hopes up.

Then, over the course of a month, using this product as my conditioner every time I washed (approx twice a week), my hair just got softer and softer and very, very healthy looking.  It got so healthy that  even a friend that I see every day noticed and commented.

The facts:  Terax has been making rinse out and leave conditioners for almost 50 years.  They make conditioners exclusively, no shampoos.  The conditioners are made in small batch sizes, which Terax says allows for a high level of quality control.

They make the original Crema formula ($22-$48) and the new Crema + Keratin ($24-$54) in either 6.7 oz or 16 oz bottles.

The Crema + Keratin does not have any sulfates, parabens, or artificial colors.

It has a pleasant, slighty fruity-but-clean smell that doesn’t linger in the hair.  Great for non-scent loving people.

The formula is a very thick, rich cream.  I use about a nickel size now.  I started out using a quarter sized amount, which was wasting the product.  It spreads so easily and is so rich that a little bit goes a long way.

The Keratin formula is said to only bind to the parts of hair that are chemically damaged (from coloring, straightening treatments), so that the hair isn’t weighed down.  I do not understand the science of conditioners (even though I won quite a few science fairs in my junior high glory days) but I will say that my hair just feels super healthy and light after using this.

It feels moisturized and silky.  Terax also says that the technology they use keeps the Keratin in the hair even after you rinse, whereas most keratin formulas just wash down the drain.

I’ve colored my hair once a month for the past 14 years, so I had just sort of assumed that my hair would never look as healthy as someone who has never colored their hair.  But lovely ladies who color, Our Day Has Come and IT IS GLORIOUS.  This Keratin formula is a game-changer.

Overall, I’m so impressed.  The price is just right for me at $24 for the Keratin formula.  My previous favorite conditioner is in the $40 range, which hurt when it came time to repurchase.  My hair has never looked or felt better.

My hair after blow drying and flat ironing it, normally it would be fried, but it feels/looks super healthy!

Thank you for reading!  Please feel free to share the post, email it, share on Facebook or pin the pics to Pinterest.

I found the Crema + Keratin online at amazon.  If you try it I hope you love it as much as I do!

*Thank you to Terax for sending me this conditioner to review and introducing me to your brand!  You can check out my blog policy {here}.

  • Looks great! What do you use for shampoo? I currently use WEN so it covers both for me, but am intrigued by this conditioner!

    • Right now I'm using an Oribe color preserving shampoo that I got last year for my birthday, but I'm slowly coming to the end of that! I have a TIGI moisturizing liter I got from the Ulta sale ($13!) that I also like. This Terax conditioner totally blew me away and surprised me. I can't believe it's not more well known!!
