Sun Damage Quick Fix

I spent my twenties running errands without a single thought to sunscreen.  “I’m just in my car!”  If I had spent the day at the beach, or gone for a hike, I was religious about sunscreen.  Covered.  Head to toe.  But a quick trip in the car?  Nada.

I had sunscreen in my face moisturizer, but didn’t put any sunscreen on my chest or arms.  Sigh.  20 minutes here and there adds up.  A couple years later I noticed the skin on my chest was red all the time.  It started to have a weird, scratchy leathery feel.  Sun damage.  Oy.

I now keep a bottle of La Roche-Posay SPF 45 for body in my car and bathroom and apply it every morning just as I would a moisturizer.  That’s made a HUGE difference in stopping any more damage, but the redness is still there on my chest and the texture isn’t great.

I was asked to test this primer from the L’Oreal Revitalift line.  It’s their Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother, 1.18 oz for $25.  This is a new version of this primer that now includes broad spectrum SPF 30.  To be honest, I didn’t love it on my face.  It made my makeup too matte.

I put it on my neck and chest area (as I do with all my skin care products now) and BAM.  Instantly my skin looked smoother and younger.  Some redness was still there but the rough texture was now totally smooth and all the wrinkles and crinkles on my neck (on account of the skin being thinner from the damage) that I’d get when I turn my head where much less noticeable.

Now I use this daily on my neck, chest, and the backs of my hands.  The broad spectrum SPF 30 helps prevent any future damage.

The only downside is that the tube is difficult to squeeze, because the plastic is thick and the product is thick as well.  I have to use both hands to squeeze the tube and then scoop up the product after I’ve squeezed it out.

This has made a huge difference for me!  I’m not going to do body makeup every day to cover up the sun damage, so this is a quick and easy way to make my skin look better for everyday and to also prevent any more damage.  It’s a new daily use product for me, fo sho.

I wish you could feel texture through pictures!! The texture is totally different in the “After” picture. Sorry the lighting is slightly darker in the top pic.
