Grey Smokey Eye Shadow Tutorial | Fair Skin + Redhead Friendly

This tutorial was a total PARTY TIME for me!

I was getting in a bit of a “natural look” makeup rut and needed to shake things up.  I wanted to do a fun night-out look.  I ended up loving this makeup so much that I wore it out two nights in a row while I was in Vegas!

Three -3- Makeup Tricks I used in this video:

  1.  To make grey really flattering for redheads, use a wine or purple base and a grey shadow with purple undertones.
  2. Using a cream shadow on your lid before a powder will intensify the color of the powder as well make it last much, much longer.  (One night on this trip, I fell asleep with my makeup on – whoops – and when I woke up my eyeshadow was still perfectly in place, it hadn’t even smudged!)
  3.   For a softer smokey eye, I only applied the cream shadow base on my lid.  I did not bring it out into the exaggerated V-shape that I did with the powder.  For fair skin, I think this is a more flattering smokey eye. It keeps the shadow so that it’s not harsh looking against the skin at the edges.

I really hope you enjoy this look, let me know if you’d like to see more of these dramatic makeup tutorials!

Lorac Eye Primer

e.l.f. Smudge Pot “Wine Not”

Makeup Geek Small Crease Brush

Viseart Neutral Matte Palette (This palette seemed pricey at first to me, then when I broke it down, it worked out to $6.67 for each shade in the 12 shade palette.  That makes each shade about the same price as a drugstore eyeshadow, for the highest quality, most pigmented eye shadow I’ve ever used.  The pans are huge and each color in this neutral palette is wearable, and powder products never expire.  Big thumbs up for this brand and palette!)

Wayne Goss Crease Brush (softest brush on earth)

Hourglass Eyeliner “Black”
