Julep describes their new glitter nail polish in Cameron as “silver lilac stardust (matte glitter).” I describe it as “PA-CHANGA!” “Cha-ching!” “More Please!”
I am not a huge glitter nail polish person, OR SO I THOUGHT. I opened this month’s Julep Maven box and saw this glitter and thought “I’m not sure.”
I’m an “adult” and sometimes glitter on adults looks a little Reno Showgirl. Like, where did I leave my feathered headdress, I’m on stage in 2 minutes?!?
But this shade is real, real nice. The “matte” glitter isn’t truly matte, it does have some sparkle, but it does look grown-up. This is glitter that has a 9-to-5 job and a 401k.
The color is pretty, purple with a silver undertone. I think it’s very wearable and colorful, but not too bright. I wore it for a week without getting tired of the color, which is saying something for me and my …particular… tastes. I am a glitter convert. Also, this polish came off easily, without the 75-hour-glitter removal process that taking off most glitter nail polishes feels like. HUGE plus.
You aren’t supposed to use a top coat with it, but I did find the texture a little too rough around my finest merino sweaters. What? You’re wearing cashmere? Oh. You Fancy. So I did add a coat of Julep’s Freedom Polymer Topcoat. At first it took away some of the “Stardust” effect. But by the next morning the top coat had settled in and the polish was smooth to the touch, but had some texture. That’s my kind of stardust.
Julep Nail Color does not contain formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, or DBP. Rad. I don’t know what most of them are, but I feel like they probably shouldn’t be on my nails.
And now, may I present to you: My swatches…
Thank you for reading. I ADORE YOU ALL AS MUCH AS THIS NAIL POLISH!
