THERE IS A “RIGHT” WAY TO BRUSH YOUR HAIR

WHAT!!??!  Yes.  There is a “right” way to brush your hair.  And I’ve actually known about it since the first time I got extensions, but I hoarded the knowledge away from you all so that I could trot it out at cocktail parties and look very cool, smart, and informed.

Oh wait?  That’s politics and current events that make you look that way, not hair tips??  Damn it.  Back to square one of asking how you know the party host.  Will somebody get the dance floor started soon?

Okay, okay.  Back to the matter at hand.  There is a right way to brush your hair and I couldn’t believe it either.

Instead of brushing from the roots down to the ends, start with the ends.

1:  Grab a small amount of hair in your hand, then gently brush the section of hair out below where you are holding.

Step 1
Step 1

2:  Move your hand up your hair and brush again.

Step 2
Step 2

Theeeeen, go to the roots and brush from roots to ends.

Step 3
Step 3

You’ll still get the benefits of distributing the natural oils from your scalp to the drier ends of your hair.  But you’ll get the added benefit of fewer split ends and breakage.  This method gets all the tangles out.  Getting all the tangles out means less pulling on your scalp.  Less pulling also means less hair falling out.

No snags!
No snags!

1:  Try it.  2: See results.  3:  Believe! 4:  Please still talk to me at parties.  (Please.)

Stay Glam!

    • My hairdresser just told me about these this year! Found one at Target and I’m totally addicted. I wish I had this when I had my taped-in extensions in. Thank you for sharing! 🙂 And thank you about the blog, that’s so nice!!

  1. Good catch – I just grabbed the first comb out of my drawer for these pics! I use a brush when I want to brush my hair from scalp to the ends. Generally before bed. I use a comb when I want to untangle the hair. I have wavy hair that can get frizzy fast, so I use a comb during the day just to separate and untangle my hair and a brush before bed so that my ends can get some of the natural oils from my scalp (sounds a bit gross, sorry!). I hope this makes it clearer and thank you for the question!

  2. I get it, except that in the photos, you aren’t using a brush….you’re using a comb…So for the glam-dummies out here (of which I am, FOR SURE, one!!)…should I use a brush or a comb?!? Thanks! 🙂
