Makeup For Strawberry Blondes | The Fancy Pants Edition

Have you ever done your makeup and tried a new product in a new shade and thought this looks a little off but Time Waits For No Man so you just stick with it and kind-of-not-like-it all day?  Me too.  But I’ve also left the house in makeup I loved so much that I never wanted to wash my face.  This post is to try and help you stick with the most flattering shades I’ve found for strawberry blonde hair so that every day is a Big Win.

Let’s jump right in with my favorite products and shades.  You can view my drugstore picks in this previous post.

To reiterate what I said in the drugstore post, the shades that I find work best for eyes are browns, plums, taupe, army green, and black (just as a liner.)

For cheeks, peaches are my favorites or a dusty or blush pink can work.

Lips are where I go crazy, I love reds, raspberry, and nudes.  I have a Tom Ford lipstick that is the ultimate peach shade for strawberry blondes, I’m wearing it the pic above.  But I’m scared to use it because it is so very fancy-pants ($50!).

Blushes:

Too Faced Sweethearts Blush in Peach Beach, $30:  I love this blush on anyone who is fair skinned actually, strawberry blonde or not.   It adds the perfect amount of natural color and warmth to your face.  Especially for strawberry blondes, it’s just the best shade.  Full review in {this} post and used in {this} makeover post.

Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay blush in Captivating:  This is a great peach flush.  It gives some color and brightness to your face.

Bobbi Brown Blushes:  I love the Pink Clay, but the color is hard to find so I think it might have been discontinued.  I’d like to try Nude Peach, Pastel Peach, and Coral Sugar.  Bobbi Brown blushes are very pigmented, just one tap provides plenty of color.  They are also very easy to blend and look really natural.

Eyebrows:

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Auburn, $18:  The one/the only.  This is my absolute favorite, go-to brow product for redheads.  For strawberry blondes, use a very light hand.  When I go too dark it doesn’t look natural, but when I use just the tiniest amount, it adds the right amount of red and natural brown tones to my brows.  A little goes a loooong way so this is actually one of those “great deal in the ling run” products.  This tub will last you forever, I have had mine for almost 6 months and I’ve barely scratched the surface.  It lasts all day without budging and lasts through heat, sweat, and swimming but comes off easily with my cleansing oil.  My full review on Dipbrow {here.}

Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel in Caramel, $22: If the thought of spending more than 10 seconds on your eyebrows makes you feel anxious, then this is the product for you.  It’s also amazing if you are way on the blonde side of strawberry blonde and the dipbrow is too dark for you no matter how light handed you are with it.  Caramel is a perfect soft strawberry blonde shade and brushes through your brows in seconds. It adds a slight tint and keeps your brows in place.  It can also be worn over the dipbrow if you want to really set them in place.

Eyeshadows:

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, $54: This is a gorgeous range of plums and mauves that look so soft and romantic on that you’ll want to take a walk hand-in-hand in the park with yourself.  They are just really, really pretty and every time I use this palette I feel like it was created for humans with strawberry blonde hair.  My full review on this palette {here.}

Lorac Unzipped Palette, $40: Another palette that feels like it was made just for redheads.  This Lorac palette also has a ton of soft plums, pinks and browns with a hint of plum.  The eyeshadows are so buttery and blend really well.  Also, the pans are really large, so this is a great value.

Shu Uemura Silk Eye Cushion in Amber Brown, $15:  This soft brown has flecks of pink swirled into it.  On the lid it gives just the right amount of color and depth.  The small amount of pink makes it look soft and not harsh.  An amazing brown shade or fair skin and strawberry blonde hair.  It can be applied with your finger or with a synthetic bristle brush.

Mac Eyeshadow in Smoke & Diamonds, $16:  I got this eyeshadow in a gift bag and thought, “pretty.” Then put it on and thought “Game Changer.”  Whatever little magic swirl of khaki and green and grey went into this shade, make it the perfect smokey shade.  It’s so stunning on.  It’s hard to find, a good dupe according to the internet is Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Moondust.

Eye Liners:

Stila Smudgestick Waterproof Moray and Brown, $20 each:  These liners last a really long time, even in the waterline.  Moray is a light army green that is great on its own for a soft look, or worn over a black liner to make your eyes sparkle.  Brown is a true, rich chocolate brown.  Love both!

Lorac Front of the Line Pro Black, $23: If you thought you could never do a cat eye, then this is the eyeliner for you.  The tip is super fine and precise and the tip glides (instead of drags) across your lid, making it way better for the delicate eye area.  I tried this liner on a whim 8 months ago and haven’t looked back since.  My go-to.

Tarte Cosmetics Eyeliner in Plum, $22 – It’s hard to find a good plum liner, but Tarte has done it!  This eyeliner is also all natural and won’t irritate your eyes.

Lipsticks Reds:

Nars Dragon Girl and Cruella matte lip pencils, $25 each: Gorgeous on, Dragon Girl is slightly brighter and Cruella is more of a dark, moody red.  These pencils rock and are very pigmented.

MAC Ruby Woo, $16: One of the best red shades I’ve ever seen.  I hope they always make this color.  It doesn’t transfer, making it a great red to wear all day long.

Ardency Inn in Lovecat, $25: I once feel asleep with this gorgeous red lipstick on and when I woke up, I was terrified that my pillow was going to look like a crime scene.  But, nope, lipstick was still in perfectly in place.  This is one of those amazing values in the long run type deal-ios.  One swipe and you are good for 12 hours+.  Pretty insane.  Also, this is a blue based red, so it makes your teeth look whiter.  My full review with swatches of this lipstick {here.}

Lipsticks Peach:

Tom Ford Beauty in Abandon, $50: This is my Holy Grail of lipsticks for strawberry blondes.  It’s just the perfect, perfect light peach shade.  Anytime I wear it people are just obsessed.  Including myself.

Lipsticks Raspberry:

Tarina Tarantino Conditioning Lip Sheen in Floriculture, $22: Gorgeous raspberry shade in one of the most hydrating formulas I’ve ever tried.

DHC Premium Lipstick in Raspberry, $19: A super wearable raspberry shade in an amazing, moisturizing formula.  This is a raspberry that can be worn for daytime without it looking like All-The-Makeup.  It’s so pretty and the packaging is also gorgeous.

Lipsticks Pinks:

Urban Decay Lovechild, $22: This is a fun Barbie pink that works on my when my hair is on the lighter side of strawberry blonde.

Lipsticks Nude:

Hourglass in Grace, $30: This formula is natural, meaning you aren’t putting a ton of chemicals on your lips.  The color is such a stunning nude with a hint of pink.  A gorgeous, natural look that really hydrates your lips.

Lip gloss Rose:

Chanel Glossimer #172 Rose Sauvage, $29: Chanel lip gloss.  Chanel lip gloss.  You will feel fancy.  Beyond that, this rose shade is a nice, natural lip shade with a hint of shimmer that makes your lips look fuller.  As it wears off, the slight rose tint remains and makes your lips look amazing.

Lip glosses Peach:

Stila Lip Glaze in Apricot and Grapefruit, $22 each: I always forget how much I love these glosses, until I pull one out and throw it into my purse for the day.  Then I get re-obsessed all over again.  These are two perfect peach hues that really add shine.

Jouer gloss in Tender, $20:  The perfect peach gloss!  This formula isn’t sticky at all and after the gloss wears off, it leaves behind a gorgeous hint of peach.

Lip glosses Nudes:

Hourglass in Child, $28: Hourglass is known for their ambient lighting powders, but I really think their lip products are such amazing stand outs too.  This is a super hydrating lip gloss that makes your lips look full and perfect, with a wash of nude that makes them look more alive.  Stunning!  I want to try the shades “Lush” and “Truth” next.  This is one of the best lip gloss formulas I’ve ever used.

Foundations for Fair Skin:

Koh Gen Do Moisture Foundation, $70:  This is true luxury.  This foundation performs like no other.  It has a range of shades for fair skin. It also hydrates, which is really hard to find in a foundation.  This liquid is mineral based, so it won’t clog your pores or cause breakouts or irritation.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk, $65: Another luxury foundation that looks gorgeous on.  This gives your skin a glow like no other, without looking fake in any way.  It’s like carrying around lighting for your skin everywhere you go.  I always use this when I know I’m going to take photos, because it’s just a knock-out, amazing foundation.  Full review on it {here.}

  1. Hey girl! Love your blog! I am a fellow strawberry blonde and searching for a pressed powder to go over my liquid foundation? What would you reccomend? Also are there any good powder foundations you use that could take the place of my liquid? I would so appreciate a response! Thanks 🙂

    • Hi Chelsey! Sorry for delayed response!! For a setting powder over a liquid, I am obsessed with the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder. I find her primers and powders to be superior in performance and quality. I don’t really use powder foundations anymore, as my skin is really dry and now that I’m in my 30’s I find that they seem to accentuate my forehead wrinkles. But when I was in my twenties, I used and LOVED the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder as my foundation. I also recently bought the Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation to use as a heavy duty setting powder. It smells amazing and is meant to be used as a powder foundation. I liked it over the summer when my face was starting to slide off. For drugstore setting powder, the Physician’s Formula Nude Wear powder in Light is amazing. It really blurs everything. I hope this helps!! xo – Molly

    • Hi doll! I love Laura Mercier Translucent powder for setting. I don’t love powder foundation for myself, because it settles into my fine lines and makes me look a bit older, but when I did wear it, I loved Laura Mercier Mineral Powder spf 15. I also recently tried Too Faced Cocoa powder foundation as a setting powder. It smells amazing, but you do need a light touch or else I ended up looking really overdone. It can also be worn on it’s own as a foundation. I bought shade Light. I hope this helps! Molly

  2. I am a natural strawberry blond (on the redder side) whose make-up quest is to find the perfect red lipstick for my complexion. So many of them turn out hot pink on my skin. I tend towards the wine/dark red colors, which don’t look so brightly shocking on my face. I can’t wait to try the suggestions on this post, and the drugstore options post. Thanks so much for doing all the experimenting!

    • Your hair sounds gorgeous and I’m so glad I could help with colors that work! Check out the Colour Pop lipstick post too if you have time, I have a feeling you’d like “Bichette.” 🙂 Thank you again!!

      • I saw that color on your instagram, and put it on my Christmas wishlist:) Right now I am experimenting with Besame reds, which have an amazing consistency, and are so easy to apply. I also am going to try the Flower brand velvet suede lip chubby. I am a sucker for the matte lip crayons!

  3. Thank you so much for all the GREAT information and ideas!!! I just LOVE HEARING FROM YOU! You are so beautiful! Sometimes I just don’t know what colors and products to use. Thanks again.

    • Virginia, this made my day – I’m so glad it was helpful!! I really have gone through just about every shade there is is search of the perfect ones, so I felt like I had to share. Thank you again!
