Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette | Review + Swatches

If you want to know how I felt when my friend surprised me with the Naked 3 palette for Christmas, watch : THIS VIDEO.  *Warning* you will see how fully nuts I am.

Seriously though, best surprise!!  This is my first Naked Palette from Urban Decay.  I love rose tinted shadows, they give your face such a soft glow.  When I found out this whole palette is rose tinted, I sort of lost my mind.  Well, you saw the video.

This palette is beautiful.  Even down to the inside of the box, which is printed with roses.  It’s all in the details, people!

The Naked 3 palette contains 12 shadows, a double sided brush, 4 eyelid primer samples and retails for $54.

Side note:  Urban Decay primers are the jam.  They are legit.  More on them in a separate post.

Shades:

The shades are listed below and the color descriptions are all from Urban Decay:

1. Strange (pale neutral pink matte-satin)

2. Dust (pale metallic pink shimmer w/iridescent micro-glitter)

3. Burnout (light pinky-peach satin)

4. Limit (light dusty rose matte)

5. Buzz (metallic rose shimmer w/silver micro-glitter)

6. Trick (light metallic pinky-copper shimmer w/tonal micro-sparkle)

7. Nooner (medium pinky-brown matte)

8. Liar (medium metallic mauve shimmer)

9. Factory (pinky-brown satin)

10.Mugshot (metallic taupe shimmer w/slight pink shift)

11. Darkside (deep taupe-mauve satin)

12. Blackheart (smoky black matte w/rosy red micro-sparkle)

Each of the shades is really beautiful.  They all look gorgeous on!  I love that you can stick with the softer shades for daytime or go towards the darker end and do a smokey eye all within the same palette.  The shades coordinate so well, I have tried a million combinations so far.

Side note:  Not trying to throw shade, but it should be mentioned that this is not the palette for a makeup newbie who doesn’t have a ton of shades yet.  There aren’t any matte browns or neutral cream/taupe shades.  So if you’re looking for a good starter palette, this ain’t the one for you.  But if you want to have a gorgeous range of roses to add to your collection, buy this.

Packaging:

The Naked 3 palette comes in a metal case that snaps closed.  The case feels very heavy-duty and secure!  There is a small space to hold the brush that is included.  The mirror in the lid runs the length of the palette.  I can’t see taking this on the road just yet (I’m still babying it) but the mirror is a great option for travel or doing your makeup while you are having your coffee on the couch (def been there).

Color Payoff:

Each color had nice pigment and showed up how it looked in the palette on my skin.  I did use the included sample of primer underneath each shade that I swatched.  The primer really helped the color stick with one swipe and on my eyes the shades lasted 12+ with the primer on.  I did not have any shadow fallout or smudging, even on a super hot L.A. day.

Texture:

The shadows felt very creamy on.  They blended easily.  This was a huge plus for me!

Overall:

Super, super impressed/obsessed with my first Naked palette!  The color range is beautiful, the color payoff is incredible, and the shadows last.  I will keep adding eye looks as I try them.  I think this palette is a huge win and a must buy for anyone who leans towards more mauve and rose shades for their eye shadows.
